Our concept

We believe, music embodies life

Music embodies life, characterized by unforeseen surprises and unpredictability. Aleatoric music, often referred to as chance music, highlights the blend of improvisation with random elements. Much like various facets of life are shaped by the environment, chance music also draws its inspiration from it. The lively sounds of urban life, natural noises, and even snippets of conversation can act as creative stimuli. This awareness of the surroundings enhances the relatability of musical compositions, enabling listeners to connect with the melodies on a deeper level.

My interest in chance music is driven by the creative freedom and charm of improvisation it provides. This form of music encourages artists to respond spontaneously to their immediate context and emotions, resulting in performances that are both unique and invigorating. Chance music genuinely mirrors the richness of life, allowing listeners to experience the essence of existence through its melodies. Furthermore, the element of randomness fosters creativity, encouraging musicians to explore and experiment, thereby pushing beyond traditional musical confines and inventing entirely new sounds and styles. This approach not only enhances musical expression but also invites us to appreciate the beauty in every moment within an unpredictable world.

In this creative project, I create a generative patch using Max to convey my perspective that music is life, it reminds us that there is always surprises in our lives.

The project separated into two parts, representing two important stage in life. The first part, using random and brief note fragments to reflect the baby's curiosity about the surrounding environment. Also, the sudden shifts between high and low notes convey uncertainty and the feeling of exploration. Most importantly, the unstable rhythms represent the wobbling and instability of a baby learning to walk.

The second part represents the calmness in old age. It starts with slow tempo, the music becomes slower, showcasing inner peace. Using long-lasting chords and simple melodies symbolizes reflection on life and wisdom. Through long tones and gradual shifts in sound, the depth and maturity of emotions are emphasized.

These musical transitions not only reflect the carefree nature of infancy and the tranquility of old age but also allow listeners to experience the different facets of life and the evolution of emotions.
